Simon Barrell - Managing Director
Simon Barrell has spent 16 years marketing financial information
products and in international management roles. He also has sales,
product management, technical project management, customer support,
and training experience from diverse assignments during his career
at Reuters.
While studying for a degree in Business Studies, Mr.
Barrell worked in the marketing department at FPT Industries Ltd. (a
UK aerospace component manufacturer) and for a sales team at IBM UK
in London. In 1987 he joined Reuters' prestigious Graduate Training
Program, and early responsibilities included the launch of numerous
3rd Party Specialist products and Reuters news services. Based in
Stockholm as Technical Project Executive he successfully implemented
new ticker feeds for the Scandinavian stock exchanges. Moving back
to London he held positions in London managing client training and
customer support helpdesks. In 1993 Mr. Barrell accepted a
challenge to be Marketing Executive for Chile, Peru & Bolivia.
Throughout the past decade he made significant contributions to the
growth of Latin America into a $100 million business. Part of the
management team, he ran Marketing in the Southern Region
(1994-1998), was also Country Manager Peru (1997-1998), Marketing
Director Latina Region (1999-2001) and finally moved to New York, as
VP Marketing. Mr. Barrell was the architect of many regional
services and tailored international transaction products that
generated tens of millions of dollars in new revenues for the
region. Keynote speaker at an industry conference on Collaboration
in Monterrey, Mexico in 2002. He has presented on marketing and
financial information services to courses at universities in
Argentina and Peru, and has offered numerous interviews for leading
regional newspapers, business magazines and financial radio shows.
Mr. Barrell has a Master of Science in Direct &
Interactive Marketing from New York University, and a BA (Hons) in
Business Studies from Bristol Polytechnic. He is fluent
in Spanish and French. |
